Xbox Series X First-Party Games Showcase Date Is Officially Announced
The date for the Xbox Series X first-party games showcase has been officially announced. The event will take place on Thursday July 23.

The Xbox Showcase Event kicks off at 9am PT, 12pm ET, 5pm UK. You will be able to watch the entire event on Xbox’s official YouTube and Twitch channels. A pre-show, hosted by Geoff Keighley, will take place an hour before the main show starts.
After the somewhat underwhelming third-party games reveal a few weeks ago, Microsoft needs to come out swinging at this event. July 23 should be jam-packed with first-party games that will give us a glimpse of the true potential of the Xbox Series X.
I’d image Halo Infinite will take center stage during the show. 343’s latest addition to the long running franchise is certainly due a game-play reveal and I think we are going to get it come July 23. With a bit of luck, we’ll get to see both the campaign and multiplayer in action.
Halo aside, Xbox fans should be in for a fest of first-party games. The Initiative, Microsoft’s brand new AAA studio, will hopefully be in a position to show us what they have been working in for the last few years. Rumours, to be taken with a grain of salt of course, suggest that they are working on a new Perfect Dark game, along with a brand new IP.
We also have a new IP from Obsidian to look forward too. Playground Games are allegedly working on a new Fable game along with the next installment in the Forza Horizon series. Hopefully we’ll also see something from The Coalition, inXile, Compulsion Games, Undead Labs, Turn Ten and more of Hellblade 2 from Ninja Theory.
Lockhart
However, hopefully we see more than just games at this event. Rumours have been circling for months now regarding Microsoft’s other, less powerful next gen console code named “Lockhart”. With a bit of luck Lockhart, or the Xbox Series S if you prefer, will be finally shown to the world.
On top of all that, will Microsoft choose the Xbox Games Showcase event to reveal the price and release date for the Series X? Keep your fingers crossed for that. It should be packed event all the same on July 23 though. After Sony played their hand last month, Microsoft need to aim big here. They need to show the world that the Series X will be the best place to game next gen. I can’t wait, roll on July 23.
