Ubisoft Responds In Style To Far Cry 6 Leak With First Official Trailer

Far Cry 6 has leaked ahead of time thanks to a PlayStation Store listing in Hong Kong. Along with Giancarlo Esposito being revealed as the game’s villain, other details such as the setting, playable character and release date have also come to light.

Far Cry 6

In Far Cry 6 you play as Dani Rojas, a local freedom fighter on the tropical island of Yara. Dani will take on Anton, the island’s dictator played by the brilliant Esposito. The leak also confirms that this will be the largest Far Cry map to date.

The latest addition to the Far Cry series will allegedly release on the 18th of February next year. Fans that pick the game on the PS4 will be able to upgrade to the next gen version for free when they pick up a PS5. I’d image this will also be true for Xbox players upgrading to the Series X.

Of course, this leak must have pissed Ubisoft off just a little bit. Their Ubisoft Forward event is scheduled to air on Sunday, where I’m pretty sure Far Cry 6 would of being a major part of the show. However, Ubisoft have responded to the leak in style. Earlier today, via their official Far Cry Twitter account, Ubisoft released an 11 second teaser for Far Cry 6 with the tagline “Anton would not be pleased. See you on Sunday”.

Anton

The Tweet showcases Anton, Esposito’s character in stunning detail and while not directly referring to the leak, the “Anton would not be pleased” tagline, is certainly a cheeky reference to it. You can check out the Tweet below.

So there you have it, Far Cry 6 is on its way. We’ll all find out more about it when Ubisoft Forward kicks off this Sunday at 12pm PT, 3pm ET or 8pm if you live in the UK.

But what do you think? Are you a fan of Far Cry? Will you be tuning into Ubisoft Forward this Sunday? What other games would you like to see at the event this weekend? Please feel free to leave any thoughts you have in the comments below.
