Far Cry 6 And Rainbow Six Quarantine Delayed

Ubisoft have confirmed that both Far Cry 6 and Rainbow Six Quarantine have been delayed.

Far Cry 6

Far Cry 6 was due out on February 18 next year. But earlier today, after a Q2 earnings report, Ubisoft announced that the release of Far Cry 6 has been delayed via Twitter. The game will still come out in the first half of 2021 but no new release date has been given.

The reason for the delay, you guessed it, Covid 19. Unfortunately, like so many titles already this year, including Halo Infinite and Cyberpunk 2077, the global pandemic has left developers struggling to finish their games on time.

This is completely understandable of course as developers are trying to work from home. Having to coordinate their efforts on a title as big as Far Cry must be a nightmare.

Rainbow Six Quarantine

While the news regarding Far Cry 6 was bad enough. It wasn’t the only disappointing story to emerge from that Q2 earnings report. As it turns out Rainbow Six Quarantine will also be delayed to sometime in the first half of 2021 also.

Now I know that Rainbow Six Quarantine had no official release date to begin with but the delay will be gutting to fans of the series anyway.

Going forward, and I’ve said this many times before, expect more delays. Developing games at this moment in time must be hell on earth. And I’m not even talking about Covid 19 here.

Optimise

Games like Far Cry, Quarantine and Cyberpunk 2077 are been released on multiple systems. Developers have to optimise their games for the Xbox One, One X, the PS4 and PS4 Pro and PC. On top of that you now have three new next gen machines to optimise for too with the Series X/S and PS5.

You throw a global pandemic into the mix too and maybe you’ll begin to understand the pressure and strain that developers are currently under. As fans we have to understand. Of course people will be disappointed but we are not living in normal times. That has to be taken into consideration.

How do you feel about the delay? Will you be picking up Far Cry or Rainbow Six Quarantine next year. Please feel free to leave any thoughts you have in the comments below.
