Rumour: Destiny 2 To Go Free To Play
Another day and yet another leak. This one is all about Destiny 2 becoming free to play later in the year.
Now this news comes to us from the folks over at Engadget but unfortunately the article has since been pulled down. But never fear because the good people over on Reddit have got all the details. Just follow the link.
Basically the Engadget article stated that Destiny 2 will get a reboot of sorts on September 17. Bungie’s action MMO will get a slight name change, it’ll now be called Destiny 2: New Light and all year one content will be included in the new free to play version.
Now September 17 is also the day that Shadowkeep launches, this is the latest expansion for Destiny 2 but unlike the previous DLC that came before it, Shadowkeep won’t be a timed exclusive on any platform.
Bungie, having broken free from Activision earlier this year are keen to make Destiny 2 more player friendly.
A free to play version is a good start but Bungie are not stopping there. Destiny 2 will also be launching on Steam and will allow you cross-save your progress across all platforms.
But what do you think Destiny fans. Are you happy that it’s becoming free to play, it’ll certainly up the player count anyway. Are you happy Bungie are dropping all timed exclusive content going forward. Please feel free to leave any thoughts you have in the comments below.
