XCOM 2 Free To Play On Xbox Till April 29

2K’s Give Back Project has made XCOM 2 free to play on the Xbox One and Steam. On Xbox you can play from now through to April 29th. On Steam, you can play till April 30th.

XCOM 2 replaces Borderlands: Game Of The Year Edition as 2K’s Give Back Project’s free to play title. The 2016 turn based strategy classic, developed by Fireaxis, is the sequel to XCOM: Enemy Unknown.

Twenty years have passed since world leaders offered an unconditional surrender to alien forces and XCOM, the planet’s last line of defense, was left decimated and scattered. Now aliens rule Earth, promising a brilliant future while secretly hiding a sinister agenda, and eliminating all who dissent from their new order

XCOM 2 takes place 20 years after the events of the first game and it builds on many of the brilliant elements from the award winning original. It now features procedurally generated levels, meaning that you will never play the same game twice. It also has a very steep learning curve, although don’t let this put you off. The game may be difficult but it also very rewarding for those who stick at it.

To get access to XCOM 2 simply log into your Xbox or Steam account. If you decide to buy XCOM 2 once the free trial finishes, all your progress will be saved and you can carry it over to the full game. Unfortunately, like Borderlands before it, there is no mention of this free trial coming to the PS4.

XCOM 2 is now free to play on Xbox but will you be playing it this weekend? What do you think of 2K’s Give Back Project and what game would you like to see on it next? Please feel free to leave any thoughts you have in the comments below.
