Xbox Weekly News Roundup

Monday, March 9th

We kick off the Xbox weekly news roundup with an announcement we got on Monday. Phantasy Star Online 2 will be getting a open Beta on PC and Xbox One. The Beta begins on the 17th of March. There was a closed Beta back in February for the very popular MMORPG but the upcoming one will be open to all. Tuesday, March 10th

Busy enough news day on Tuesday but first up is the Ori And The Will of The Wisps. Although the game didn’t release until Wednesday. Tuesday was the day that the review embargoes lifted. Some of you might have already experienced Ori’s new adventure by now but if you haven’t, check out the review by lordsofgaming.net. It’s a fantastic piece and it’ll really put you in the mood to play this awesome platformer by Moon Studios.

Next up is a leak that broke Tuesday afternoon regarding a new Tony Hawk 2020 game. A band called The Death Set confirmed on their Facebook page that they had licenced five of their songs for an upcoming and most definitely unannounced Tony Hawk 2020 game. Needless to say the post was promptly pulled down. But not before it quickly became news all over the net. Check out the gamerant.com article for all the info.

And last but certainly not least on Tuesday, we come to Modern Warfare: Warzone. The much leaked, and free to play battle royale game from Infinity Ward finally broke cover and became available to all. By now, if you’re a fan of COD or just battle royale games in general, you’ve probably pumped a few hours into this already. But if not, check out pcgamer.com for tonnes of info regarding the map, modes and to basically see what all the fuss is about.

Wednesday, March 11th

E3 cancelled. Absolutely terrible news, not just for Xbox fans but for gamers in general around the globe. But concerns around the rapid spread of coronavirus meant is was the right course of action. Safety first and foremost. Although E3 has been cancelled. Phil Spencer later announced on Twitter that Microsoft plan to hold a digital event at some stage over the coming months. Thursday, March 12th

On Thursday we discovered that Westwood Studios 1997 classic point and click adventure Blade Runner will be getting a remaster. This is thanks to the folks over at Nightdive Studios. Blade Runner: Enhanced Edition will be released on all platforms at some stage later this year. Check out the article from polygon.com for all the info.

Also on Thursday, Blizzard announced that due to the ongoing spread of the Coronavirus it has had to cancel all Overwatch league events in March and April. The events were to be held in Washington, London, Paris and San Francisco. It’s important to note here that only the events are cancelled. Friday, March 13th

We hit the final day in our Xbox weekly news roundup. Friday the 13th can be an unlucky day for some but not if you’re a fan of Ninja Theory’s latest IP Bleeding Edge. Today is the day that the second and final closed Beta begins on Xbox, PC and Xcloud. Having an active Game Pass subscription or if you have pre-ordered the game is the only way to get access to this Beta.
