Games With Gold – June
Here we are again folks, new month coming up which can only mean one thing, more free games on both the Xbox One and the Xbox 360. As always we see two free games for each console, on the Xbox One we have Goat Simulator and The Crew and for the 360 we will see Super Meat Boy and Xcom: Enemy Unknown as The Games With Gold offering for the month of June.
First up we'll take a little look at Goat Simulator, which has being developed and published by Coffee Stain Studios and was first launched on the PC back in April 2014, a year later in April 2015 it was released on the 360 and the Xbox One and later that year in August, it finally got released on both the PS3 and the PS4. All console ports were done by Double Eleven. In the game you play as a Goat, and your only real aim is to cause as much destruction as possible to the open sandbox world that your thrown into. It is very funny at times but without any real goals or progression apart from causing as much damage and havoc in the world as possible, it can become a little repetitive after a while. Goat Simulator will be available from the 1st to the 30th of June.

Next up is The Crew. This was also first released back 2014, it was developed by Ivory Tower and published by Ubisoft. Its an online racing game that takes place in a scaled down version of the United States, it takes roughly about 45 minutes to drive from the west coast to the east coast in the game. As I've said, this is an always online game, the single player game takes about 20 hours to complete but it is not separate from the multiplayer side of things. The game lets you form "Crews" with your friends and then you can challenge other "Crews" to races and other multiplayer events. This was pretty well received on launch and one certainly worth a luck if you like your racing games. The Crew can be downloaded from the 16th of June to the 15th of July.

First up on the 360 next month is Super Meat Boy, developed and published by Team Meat and was released way back in 2010 on the 360 through Xbox Live Arcade. In the game you play as Meat Boy, who is essentially a red cube, and the aim is to try and rescue your girlfriend, Bandage Girl, from the evil Dr. Fetus. Super Meat Boy is a very difficult platform game, it requires precise control and split second timing, it has received lots of critical acclaim for the challenge it represents and comes highly recommended to anyone you likes a bit of uphill struggle in the games they play. Super Meat Boy is available from the 1st to the 15th of the month.

Last up this month we have Xcom: Enemy Unknown, this was developed by Firaxis Games and published by 2K. It was released in October 2012 on the 360 and the PS3. Xcom is a turn based tactical shooter and like Super Meat Boy it is a very challenging game. You control an elite group of soldiers that you can train and upgrade to try and fight of an alien invasion that has taken over the planet, but be warned, once a soldier has being killed, they remain killed, this makes you take a cautious approach in every situation as losing one of your best trained soldiers makes the gameplay even more difficult. In Xcom you also get to upgrade your base and do research into new weapons and armour to try and turn the tide of war in your favour. Xcom has many admirers, it is a very well put together game and one that's well worth a look. It will be free to download from the 16th to the 30th of June. Both Super Meat Boy and Xcom are also available to download and play on the Xbox One via Backwards Compatibility.
