Resident Evil 8 Set to Release In 2021 According To Latest Rumour

Report

Resident Evil 8 is set to come out next year and it will be a cross-gen title according to the latest rumour. The rumour also suggests that the game will be, like Resident Evil 7, in first person. It’s also set to feature the same lead character from Resi 7, Ethan Winters.

This new report comes from AestheticGamer aka Dusk Golem on Twitter. In a recent Tweet, Golum states that Resident Evil 8 is actually a retooled version of Resident Evil Revelations 3. After receiving very positive feedback from both play-testers and internal testing. Capcom decided to ditch the Revelations tag and turn it into the eight mainline game in the long running survival horror franchise.

Resident Evil 8 is supposedly said to be a major departure from other Resi games. Hallucinations, occultism, insanity and not being able to trust anyone will be some of the featured themes of the game. Resident Evil 8 will reportedly change up the enemies we face too. Expect to see werewolves and zombies clad in suits of armor along our journey through the latest Resident Evil nightmare.

Resident Hopeful

I have no problem with any of this news if it turns out to be true. The first person perspective used in Resi 7 worked a treat. It made the game feel very claustrophobic and it put you right in the shoes of Ethan Winters. It really added to the atmosphere and the sense of terror. The combat in Resi 7 also worked. The gun-play was sharp and responsive. The puzzles, although thin on the ground, worked pretty well in first person.

The new enemy types sound fantastic in my opinion. Bring on the zombies in armor wielding swords. I’ve no problem with werewolves either. I know some people are screaming out for a return to “normal” zombies. But i’m glad Capcom continue to change it up. Resident Evil 7 just didn’t offer enough variety in enemy types, it’s one of the weaker aspects of the game. Those slime monster things became a little boring to battle against towards the end.

Of course, this new report should be taken with a pinch of salt. Dusk Golem has been right on many occasions in the past. But recently, his leak regarding a reboot of the Silent Hill franchise, was shot down by Konami. I for one hope he’s bang on the money this time around though. But until we have official confirmation from Capcom, we will just have to keep our finger crossed.
