Games With Gold – August

Here we go again folks, the new month is nearly upon us so that can only mean one thing, more free games on both the 360 and the Xbox One.  As always we will see two games get released for each system, but remember if you have an Xbox One you can also play the 360 games thanks to the wonder of backwards compatibility.

To kick us of we will have a look at what is on offer for the Xbox One.  First up is Warriors Orochi 3, this was developed and published by Koei Temco Games and was released back in December 2011.  To be completely honest I have never actually played any of the games in this series, I did give Dynasty Warriors a blast a few years back but it' wasn't really my cup of tea.  Orochi 3 is a Hack and Slash adventure game, it was pretty well received when it was released and has a 77% score on Metacritic.  Orochi 3 will be available to download from the 1st to the 31st of August.

Next up on the Xbox One is WWE 2K16, developed by Yuke's and Visual Concepts and published by 2K Sports, WWE 16 is the seventh title in the very popular wrestling game series and was released in October of last year.  The game features 120 unique fighters and has seen major improvements over the WWE 15 version.  Changes have being brought to the reversal system, players now have a set amount per match, loading times have being cut, improvements have also being made to the referee's and to the pins and submission systems.  If your a fan of the sport, then this might be well up your street, WWE 2K16 will be available from the 16th of August to the 15th of September.

First up on the 360 this month we have the brilliant Spelunky by designer Derek Yu, it was developed and published by Mossmouth and was first released back in December 2008, since then it has become available on the PS3, PS4, Vita, 360, Mac and Windows PC. Its an action adventure platform game that will certainly test your skills with a joypad.  The levels are randomly generated and grouped together into four area's according to difficulty, each area has it's own set of enemies and goodies to find. Spelunky will up for download from the 1st to the 15th of August.

Last up this month we have Beyond Good And Evil HD on the Xbox 360.  This was developed and published by Ubisoft and was first released in November 2003.  In March 2011 it had a HD remake for the 360.  Beyond Good And Evil is a 3rd person action adventure game, although it didn't sell to well when it was first released, it was critically acclaimed by almost every outlet in games media, it's a cracking game, I never did play the HD remake but I did play it when it was first released on the original Xbox.  It's well worth a look folks, the gameplay is solid and it's got a story that will keep you engaged throughout.  Beyond Good And Evil HD will be available from the 16th to the 31st of August.
