Battleborn – Beta
2K, the publisher of the upcoming FPS Battleborn, has just announced that the game will have an open Beta beginning in April. The game is being developed by Gearbox Software, the same studio behind the acclaimed Borderlands games and is set for release on the 3rd of May on the PS4, Xbox One and PC.
If your a PS4 owner then you get the chance to get into the action first. The Beta will begin on the 8th of April for all PS4 players and will then hit the Xbox One and PC on the 13th. Now the best thing about this Beta is that it is completely open to everyone, you are not required to have pre ordered it or need to have a special invite to join in the action, you'll just need to download it when it becomes available on your platform of choice.
So what's in the Beta? When it arrives, the Beta will include 2 Story Mode Episodes called The Algorithm and Voids Edge, these missions can be played online with up to 5 co op friends or split screen with 2 players. The Beta also has 2 competitive multiplayer modes, so we get the added bonus of going up against real players to test our skills against. 7 characters will be unlocked from the word go, with a further 18 to get as you progress through the games levelling up system.
Gearbox is taking an episodic approach to Battleborn, when the game lands on the 3rd of May it will contain 8 episodes or a "season". Since each episode tells a different story depending on the character the player chooses, there is massive scope to replay this time and time again to uncover all the stories for each of the games protagonists. With more DLC promised, it looks like this one might keep players busy for awhile.
Battleborn could well turn out to be a great little gem, Gearbox certainly know how to put a good FPS together and I think come the 18th of April when the Beta ends, its going to have a good lot of players flexing their gaming muscles in preparation for its full release on the 3rd of May.
