A Resident Evil 4 Remake Might Be Coming In 2022

According to a new report from videogameschronicle.com, a Resident Evil 4 Remake might be coming in 2022. VGC is a pretty reliable source and if true, this is excellent news for Resident Evil fans round the globe.

Report

The Resident Evil 4 Remake is being handled by an Osaka based team called M-Two. Allegedly, the game has being in production since 2018. M-Two is a new studio founded by former Platinum Games head Tatsuya Minami. The studio did some work on the recently released Resident Evil 3 remake. But according to the report, only as a means of getting up to speed for Resident Evil 4. Minami was actually one of the producers on the Resi 3 remake.

By all accounts, the Resident Evil 4 Remake will have a much larger development team than the one that worked on Resi 3. Some of the team that worked on the brilliant Resi 2 remake will be on board, along with some of the developers from Devil May Cry 5. M-Two will certainly have a lot of experience around them should they need to call on it.

If this latest rumour turns out to be true, it will mean that Capcom plan on releasing four Resident Evil games in four years. The Resident Evil 2 remake came out in 2019, the Resident Evil 3 remake is just out. In 2021, we supposedly have Resident Evil 8 and then a Resident Evil 4 remake in 2022.

Remaking A Classic

Of course, Resi 4 is in many peoples opinion the best game in the series. It’s the game that brought the Resident Evil franchise into modern times. The change to third person along with a more action focused experience opened up the series to a wider audience.

Resi 4 was extremely well received upon its release on the GameCube back in 2005. And it has gone on to sell more than 7.5 million copies across all systems worldwide since then. While the game is already playable on modern consoles, it has only ever been remastered and never completely remade.

Some folks would like to keep it that way, but for me, I’d love to see it get a modern day overhaul. If it does release in 2022, it would be releasing on the Xbox Series X and the PS5 and that is a tantalising prospect.

But what do you think? Would you like to see a Resident Evil 4 remake come to next gen hardware? Or do you want to see Capcom develop a new IP instead of releasing a different Resident Evil title every year. Please let me know any thoughts you have in the comments below.
