Crysis Remastered Release Date Officially Revealed
The release date for Crysis Remastered has finally been officially revealed. The game will be out on September 18 for Xbox, PlayStation and PC via the Epic Games Store.
Crysis Remastered
This news comes to us thanks to a press release issued earlier today by Crytec. Unfortunately, those hoping for a physical copy are going to be disappointed. Crysis Remastered will only be available via digital download. However, the good news is it will only set you back $30. Or €30 if you live in Europe.
Originally released way back in 2007 for PC, Crysis was famous for its jaw dropping visuals back in the day. It also demanded a pretty hefty PC rig to get the most out of it. Crytec and Saber Interactive are promising us a complete graphical overhaul to bring the 2007 classic up to today’s standards. Of course, Crysis on PC will see the biggest enhancements but the consoles versions should be also top notch. Below is a snippet of what Crytec has in store graphically for the remaster.
“Co-developed with Saber Interactive, the classic first person shooter will focus on the original game’s single-player campaign and is slated to contain high-quality textures up to 8K, HDR support, temporal anti-aliasing, Screen Space Directional Occlusion (SSDO), Global Illumination (SVOGI), state-of-the-art depth fields, new light settings, motion blur, parallax occlusion mapping, Screen Space Reflections and Shadows (SSR & SSS) as well as new and updated particle effects and more. Further additions such as ray tracing enhance the game with a major visual upgrade.“
Excellent
Incredibly, thanks to the CryEngine, Crysis Remastered will allow for ray tracing on both the Xbox One X and the Playstation 4 Pro. How they plan to pull this off or how much it will impact performance remains to be seen. But the fact that they have ray tracing running on those systems is a feat in itself.
Graphics and visual fidelity aside, Crysis is an excellent first person shooter. Even thirteen years after its initial release. The gameplay should hold up pretty well compared to its current day rivals. It’s sharp mechanics, varied gameplay and beautiful setting won’t be out of place in 2020.
If you have never experienced Crysis before, then this is a perfect time to give an all time classic a try. If you would like to see the new Crysis in motion, check out the tech trailer below. It’s coming to a digital market place near you on September 18.
