Homefront: The Revolution

Homefront: The Revolution is due out this year on the 17th of May in the US and 3 days later to the rest of the world.  This is a follow up to the 2011 hit game Homefront.  The original game was developed by Kaos Studios and published by THQ.  After THQ's bankruptcy, the rights of the game were sold to Crytek who then sold the rights to Koch Media after restructuring their company. Deep Silver, a subsidiary of Koch Media will publish this game, while the development will be handled by Dambuster Studios.  The game will be released on PC, Xbox One and of course the PS4.

Homefront: The Revolution will be set in Philadelphia, in the year 2029.  This is 2 years after the events in the first game and the player will once again find themselves very much on the back foot, facing a far superior force as the Korean army occupies the US and has complete control over the country.  This time around, developer Dambuster Studios will take us back further in history, all the way back to the 50's in fact, to tell the story of what has happened between the two countries leading up to the games current time of 2029. 

The game will once again be an FPS but this time around it will be set in an open world for the player to explore.  The guys at Dambuster want the player to use the game world to your advantage, providing tools for you to over come the odds against the occupying force that stand in the way of liberation.  Going in all guns blazing is just not going to work, the player is encouraged to use guerilla style tactics, the fight the fight on your terms, to always leave your enemy guessing as to what your next move could be and where. 

The game will be well supported after launch to, with at least 12 months of DLC promised for the games online co op Resistant Mode, while nothing has being announced regarding single player DLC, all the DLC for the Resistant Mode will be completely free for all players, so a massive round of applause to everyone over at Deep Silver for that one. 

If you cant wait till May to start leading the revolution against Korea your in luck, if you go to homefront-game.com you can start earning Merits.  These merits can be got by simply completing missions on the website, and each one that is unlocked gives the player another little piece of lore that is attached to the game and also provides the player with in game content, such as combat gear and will allow you to further customise their co op character in the games Resistant Mode.  You'll need to link your Homefront profile to either your Xbox Live, PSN or Steam account in order to retrieve the in game content.

Deep Silver has also just released a new trailer called "Hearts And Minds 101".  It shows how the player can interact with the people in the games world and how by performing actions within the games coloured zones you can earn the support of the oppressed folk of Philadelphia in the fight against the occupying army.

I liked the original, it wasn't the greatest FPS ever created but it did offer a good solid game, with a decent story and good action from time to time.  I enjoyed what I played of the multiplayer too, but at the time I was playing COD nearly full time so I never really gave it a proper blast.  This time though, there is no COD that I want to play, I'm sick to death of it to be honest, this might offer up something fresh and might well just be worth punt come 20th of May.
