Forza Motorsport 7
Looks like Forza 7 will be screaming onto an Xbox One later this year according to the good folks over at Digital Spy. No official release date has being given yet but I'd imagine that Turn 10 and Microsoft will announce at this year's E3 which begins on the 14th of June.
Once upon a time Gran Turismo was the undisputed king of racing games on consoles, but for me Forza has overtaking it in recent years. With each passing year the guys and girls over at Turn 10 get better and better at tweaking the handling engine in the game to the point now, that even if you are just playing using a controller, you get a great feeling of how the car is reacting to the tarmac, the feedback you get from the joypad is second to none in my opinion on the Xbox One. You know pretty much straight away if you have gone into a corner to fast or have taken the wrong line into it, but you also know if you have nailed the corner bang on, it's hard to describe but the rumble through the joypad adds to the sense of feel that you experience when blasting around a track.
This year to help celebrate the 100th year anniversary of Lamborghini, the Centenario will feature as the cover car on Forza 7. It is of course a gorgeous looking car and one that most of us will just never ever be able to afford, this doesn't bother me too much as I can't drive anyway. Speaking at the recent Geneva Motor Show, Phil Spencer, head of Microsoft's Xbox division shared his delight at having the Centenario on the cover, he had the following to say.
We're excited to continue our long history of working with Lamborghini and to be part of their 100-year anniversary by celebrating the Centenario as the featured cover car of the next Forza game. It's an honour to announce our partnership at one of the world's biggest automotive shows, and we look forward to unveiling the game at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo.
Hopefully Turn 10 can keep adding to the ingame experience, Forza 6 introduced wet weather racing and night time racing to the game. Both features certainly added a bit of diversity to the wheel to wheel action on the track. On those tightly fought last laps, it cranked up the tension as you tried to maintain your racing line and at the same time avoid the standing water on track and do your best to keep all your opponents behind you, it will leave you with the odd sweaty palm.
It's hard to say if Forza is still a system seller for Microsoft, it's a great game, no doubt about that, but this year also see's the return of Gran Turismo on the PS4. If you are a sim racing fan and are still debating which console you want this Christmas, Microsoft and Turn 10 have to do all they can to convince you that it's the console bundled with Forza 7, not the one bundled with Gran Turismo Sport that you want to find under the tree later this year.
