7 Days To Die
Telltale have just announced that it will be bringing the hit zombie game, 7 Days To Die to the Xbox One and PS4. Its being developed by Dallas based company The Fun Pimps and is set for a June release this summer, it will cost $29.99 USD, so it will be of a similar price depending where you are in the world. It will be available to buy in both digital and retail disc form.
7 Days To Die has being available on PC through Steam Early Access since December 2013. It has a massive and loyal following on PC and its community have racked up hour after hour after hour of streaming time on Twitch and elsewhere. The game is set in a fictional county called Navezgane in the real American state of Arizona. Its set after a nuclear war that has pretty much destroyed most of the planet and left what remains of humanity to scrape out a living on rocks.
The setting is perfect as 7 Days To Die is all about survival, there is no real story as of yet, its just about staying alive and luckily the game caters to this by allowing the player to craft, mine, loot and of course it also has a full combat system, so you can do some zombie skull crushing along the way, all played out in first person, so it puts you right in the thick of it from the word go when your first dropped into this undead infested open world sandbox. The game will give you full control over your destiny, allowing you to set traps and build fortifications to keep yourself safe. It also uses a day and night cycle to good effect, during the day the zombies are slow and weak and you can use the day time to go explore and build but at night they become an altogether different kind of animal and will smash down your doors and walls to try take a chunk out of your face.
Upon the games console announcement, Steve Allison, SVP Publishing at Telltale, expressed his delight at being able to finally bring 7 Days To Die to both the Xbox One and PS4, he had the following to say.
"Telltale Publishing seeks to bring the best and most innovative games in their genres to new audiences. 7 Days to Die has already thrilled over 1.5 million PC users worldwide, and we're delighted to bring this game from the PC to consoles everywhere.
"The Fun Pimps have redefined what the survival genre can be with unrivalled world-building, crafting, and character growth. With overwhelmingly positive user feedback for the PC version, we can't wait to expose a brand new audience to this exceptional and terrifying sandbox experience.
Pre ordering the game will get you 5 character skins from Telltale's brilliant Walking Dead series, including Michonne and Lee Everett and post launch DLC has also being promised to keep the game fresh with new ideas and content. The console version of the game will have split screen multiplayer, so couch co op zombie killing is a go, online multiplayer modes have not yet being released.
This looks like it could be a real winner on consoles, I've never had the chance to play H1Z1 or Day Z on PC but both those games along with 7 Days To Die is certainly right up my street, I do love my zombies and survival horror games, so as you can imagine, I can't bloody wait for this.
