Monster Hunter: World Ships 5 Million Copies Worldwide

Monster Hunter: World made its worldwide debut on Friday the 26th of January on the Xbox One and the PS4. Capcom, the company behind the game, announced today that, in the three days since launch, Monster Hunter has managed to ship a massive five million copies worldwide across both platforms.

The five million figure represents both digital copies sold and the physical copies that have been shipped to stores around the globe. It's important to note here that shipped does not mean sold but this number still sets a record for the long running series and pushes the total sales for the franchise to over 40 million units.

While this is fantastic news for Capcom, Xbox One players have been struggling to enjoy the game due to some performance issues with their version. Unfortunately Monster Hunter: World on the Xbox One also seems to be suffering from major server problems too. Players are reporting that they are unable to sign into co-op games, leaving them to take on the huge in-game monsters all by themselves in offline mode.

Thankfully though, Capcom are on the case and are fully aware of the matchmaking issues surrounding the Xbox One version. In a Tweet released on Saturday by the company, they reassured Xbox players that know about the problems and are working on a fix.

Hello Hunters, we’re aware of the Xbox matchmaking issues and dev team is actively investigating it, we’ll update you as soon as we can.

With a bit of luck this gets sorted as soon as possible so Xbox players get to enjoy the game as it was intended to be played. Monster Hunter: World has received nothing but praise from the gaming press for its cracking game play and for taking full advantage of todays current gen hardware to give hunters a seamless and beautiful open world to explore and enjoy.

What do you think folks, have you bought Monster Hunter: World on the Xbox One? Are you also suffering from matchmaking problems? Please feel free to leave any thoughts you have on the matter in the comments below.
