Battlestar Galactica: Deadlock

Mother frakking bloody toasters. I love Battlestar Galactica, I'm actually in the process of watching it for the 4th time It is without question the best TV show my eyes and ears have ever encountered and now thanks to the folks at Slitherine, Black Lab Games and Universal Brand Development we are about to be treated to a brand new game called Battlestar Galactica: Deadlock. The new game is due out this summer for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

While Deadlock is based on the popular and brilliant TV show, the story in Deadlock takes place 40 years earlier during the first Cylon War. After four years of intense fighting between the Colonial Fleet and the Cylons neither side has gained the upper hand. The have fought each other to a standstill up on till a surprise, devastating attack that has left the Colonial Fleet High Command at Picon completely destroyed and now the faith of the human race rests in the hands of Rear-Admiral Lucinda Cain. Her secret plan might just turn the tide of war back in favour of the colonies forever.

Deadlock is a strategy game, you will take control of the Colonial Fleet from the bridge of the mobile shipyard Daidalos. You will be tasked with building new ships, blueprints can be found as you progress through the game, you will also have to protect the Quarum Of Twelve, recruit marines to fight off toaster boarding parties, protect your vital computer systems by putting up firewalls to fend off Cylon hacking and test your strategic brilliance by defending against Cylon Raiders and Basestars that are hell bent on destroying all things human.

Paul Tubett, managing director at Black Lab had the following to say after the announcement.

Our main goal is to give the vast community of fans and followers a game that is deeply rooted in the franchise’s values. We are creating a game that tells new stories, but with familiar places, events and characters. And all of it will be captured in the depth that our strategy game will offer.

So say we all.

Battlestar Galactica: Deadlock will also feature 1V1 online multiplayer, you will be able to test yourself against other players in online fleet wide battles which sounds like an absolute blast if I'm been honest. We have no exact release date but Deadlock should be out by the end of the summer with a bit of luck, until then, pray to the gods that this plays as good as it sounds. Good hunting.

Are you a fan of Battlestar, are you as excited for this as I am, please feel free to leave any thoughts you have in the comments below.
